Tragedy in Nebraska

For the first time in 36 years, Nebraska will not be going to a bowl game. For the first time in 42 years Nebraska has a losing football season. The final score of the debacle that ended the Nebraska dynasty: Colorado 26 Nebraska 20. However, it wasn’t anywhere near that close. Nebraska was beaten down throughout this entire game. Joe Dailey, while he seems to be a nice guy, is the worst passing QB at Nebraska since Tommy Frazier. He can’t hit the broadside of a barn. And the new defensive coordinator from Wisconsin, Cosgrove, is horrible. He took (essentially unchanged personnel-wise) the number 10 defense in the country last year and turned it into the #113 ranked pass defense. This guy was mediocre at Wisconsin, and I don’t care if he IS Callahan’s friend, the evidence shows he is not very good. He denegrated Pelini’s defense from last year as being “mostly cover 2 and cover 3”. Well, hell, maybe so, but at least that worked!! There’s nothing wrong with a little man coverage, but zone is a hell of a lot easier and works a hell of a lot better, just ask Craig Bohl! Hands up from the folks that think that Coach Solich would have given us a 5-6 season. Anyone? Didn’t think so. The ONLY good news out of this is that Callahan is supposed to be getting a “top 5” recruiting class this year. Let’s hope, because if he gives us another season like this one, the Husker fans will ride him and that crazy AD Pederson out of town on a rail.
