Although my family has evacuated from the path of Dennis, our prayers were not answered and it made landfall almost on top of Navarre Beach. This unfortunately puts Ft. Walton Beach and Destin in the most damaging quarter of the hurricane, the NE quarter. Having seen the damage done by Ivan last year, I fear the worst.
NW Florida, our thoughts are with you.
Hello son; thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We fared well here just the usual branches, leaves, and trash in the pool. It is the loss of power for days (when it is so hot and humid) that does you in! Jay lost some of his fence, power, etc. He claims he is going to leave his hurricane shutters on until November! We now have the White Cliffs of Destinor so the Weather Channel dubbed our beach ! They just condemned Bill Abbott’s $5M home in Walton County. Debris pick up is supposed to start today and we will be glad to get all the branches, bags, etc. away from the front of the house! Love and thanks from us all!
Thanks. It’s months after the fact now, as you know, but Dennis was — fortunately — no Ivan.
We’ll never forget the hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005. Here’s to an unremarkable 2006.
