Encore

So, as I posted earlier, I am back from Nippon. Still jet lagged like crazy, but there’s not much to be done about that. I did NOT get Mibu Gishi Den. Argh! The reason this time is that I agreed to shepard two other folks from my company to Akihabara. I did so, and when I did, I forgot to take my print out of Mibu Gishi Den. However, after helping my friends buy a 6 GB iPod and some other stuff, I DID go check several of the video stores. In the first one, no one understood, so I tried to look for myself again. However, all I managed to do was to shock my friends since the entire 4 upper floors of this place were porn. They were kinda shocked that the Japanese have so much porn, even Anime porn! I told them the same thing a Japanese/American lady I know says “Japanese men are so perverted…..” 🙂 After a bit of a discussion on this, with me suggesting that perhaps the reason is because they have to live inside their own heads so much with the lack of privacy they have in such a high pop density country and then some comments about not being burdened with the U.S.’s very unhealthy Puritan and Victorian sexual mores, we decided that it didn’t really matter, but it is a bit wierd. Anyway, I did manage to make myself understood at at least two other video stores. They knew exactly what movie I wanted (Shinsengumi movie), but did not have it. I think I might have been able to be successful with my printout and more time devoted to looking, but oh well. Maybe I will finally give in and buy it online…. Other than that, I went into the Ginza and walked around a bit. It was an absolutely beautiful day on Saturday, which contrasted strangely with Friday night, which was so cold I decided not to bother to try to go to Roppongi or Shinjuku… I went to the Sony building and then bought some sake and then it was time to come home. Glad to be home.
