On the Plane

I’m on the plane to Japan again. Trip number 12. Funnily enough, one of movies being shown is Lost in Translation. I think my favorite scene is the karaoke bar… Come to think of it, I like karaoke bars in Japan too… 🙂 I’m watching it for the 2nd time now on the plane and I REALLY REALLY want to know what Bill Murray says to the girl at the end… he whispers and I have no idea what the heck he is saying.

Note for the designers of the 777, especially the ones put together for the United San Fran to Osaka route… Why would you think that sticking a 5x10x12″ box under each seat reducing the leg space from maybe 3′ to a little over 2′ was acceptable? Newsflash…. it’s NOT! I DO appreciate that I can change through 10 channels of video (plus most of the same in Japanese), but I don’t think it is worth it to have NO EFFECTIVE STORAGE SPACE (including for my legs!) under the seat in front of me!

The only good news about this flight is that I have the department’s 10 hour battery. Yeah, that’s right. A 10 hour battery. Heck, it may be even more than that with my T40… I get about 3.5 hours just out of its battery. The bad news is that Outlook is hosed at the moment and I have none of my emails from more recently than a month ago, so all the work I thought I was gonna get done… nope. At least not until I can connect to the net again.

Incidentally, did you know that the Pepsi cannery in Hong Kong still uses PULL TABs on their cans? I didn’t either until I was given one on this flight… For a minute there I thought someone had handed me a REAL old can of Pepsi…
